About Ganzi Osteria is located in downtown East Toronto, inside of a beautiful historic mansion built in 1891 by famed architect George Horace Gooderham. Wondering what Ganzi means? In Tuscan region the word “Ganzo” is used to address someone as cool/fun/extraordinaire. An Osteria in Italy traditionally was a place serving wine and simple food. Lately, the emphasis has shifted to the food, but menus tend to be short, with an emphasis on local specialities such as pasta, grilled meat or fish, and often served at shared tables. It is deal for a quick bite to eat, a coffee before your meeting, an after work drink or for an elaborate meal. The choice is yours. To us Ganzi is not just about great food, it is about socializing and sharing food among family, friends or colleagues in a casual european atmosphere. Getting together at Ganzi is like hosting a party at your own house without the need for doing the dishes. At Ganzi, we believe in quality and freshness. For that our Executive chef Guerrino Staropoli works with local farmers here in Ontario to combine their products with D.O.P. ingredients (Denominazione di Origine Protetta – Protected Designation of Origin, mostly used for local produce of a specific region, as well as for traditional processed products in italy) straight from Italy to create our dishes. Our goal is creating a taste of Italy in Toronto. In the summer Ganzi’s manicured garden hedge envelopes its 200 person fully licensed outdoor patio, charming guests with cocktails made by expert mixologist from Europe. “La Dolce Vita” philosophy is suggesting that life as it’s happening in the moment, is to be savored and enjoyed, we truly believe that and we want you to experience it at Ganzi.
